How would I know if I had Gestational Diabetes? What are the symptoms?

Symptoms vary in severity depending on the individual, but for me it wasn’t apparent that something was wrong.
But, usual symptoms include thirst, frequent urination and tiredness (even more than because you’re pregnant), sick feeling, you may feel full, trouble seeing properly.

you have a great desire to drink water and feel so tired

Had gestational diabetes, a year and half after I had my son I developed full blown type 1 diabetes. Yay lol
There is a routine diagnostic test for Gestational Diabetes. It is a glucose tolerance test that is typically done around 24-28 weeks of the pregnancy. This is the only way to know for sure if a woman has developed Gestational Diabetes. All of the common symptoms of diabetes are also normal in pregnancy. Things like increased thirst, frequent urination, dry skin, fatigue, headaches, irritability, hunger, vision problems, night sweats, and shakiness are just as common for diabetics as they are for pregnant women. I developed Gestational Diabetes with my 4th pregnancy. I actually didn’t feel any different so I was surprised when the 1 hour glucose tolerance test came back with elevated numbers and I had to go in for the 3 hour test. I was even more surprised when those numbers were also elevated to the point where I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. The one thing that I did have that was unusual was that I could not gain weight, which is a symptom of diabetes but not of pregnancy. ADDED: Women who have had Gestational Diabetes are at a higher risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is not developed, but rather is an unpreventable form of diabetes with symptoms showing in childhood or early adulthood. It is not related to Gestational Diabetes, but rather is an immune system disease with the body destroying the cells that release insulin, eventually eliminating insulin production from the body. Type 2 diabetes, on the other hand, is related to insulin resistance, which makes the body react ineffectively to insulin.
